Los Angeles 2011 County Tech Week is designed to inform those with an interest in technology – businesses that develop technologies, and businesses fueled by technologies, developers, entrepreneurs, investors, venture capitalists, teachers and students – about the state of the technology landscape in Los Angeles County.

8:00am - Panel Discussion: “Social Media Marketing: How to Take Advantage of New Media to Promote your Business”

Moderator:  Sharon Bailey,  Managing Director, Beckett Advisors

Ralph Waldo Emerson was attributed with the statement that if you invent a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door. That only holds true if they have a mouse problem and the market can locate your door. Public relations and marketing are key elements for every business, and are essential for new technology entrepreneurs.

9:30am - Panel Presentation by the Pasadena Angels

Creating a successful technology company is not just about action—it is also about finding a support network that fosters growth and opportunity. The Pasadena Angels organization serves that role for local businesspeople. Two angels and three recently-funded entrepreneurs will chat about lessons learned during the start-up and funding process. Five companies will also pitch their business ideas and panelists will provide feedback.

1:45pm - Panel Discussion: “The Impact of Portable Tablets and Apps on Business”

Moderator:  Chris Hewish Global Interactive, Head of DreamWorks Animation

The portable tablet and apps business is exploding, with massive growth expected over the next few years. We’ve gathered a panel of individuals to discuss the pros and cons of how this massively popular technology is affecting a variety of businesses. The panel will share their experiences on how portable tablets and apps are affecting business models, creating (or impeding) new opportunities, expanding or altering customer bases, and what goes into creating apps for these new tablets.

3:00pm - Panel Discussion: “Business Technology Center Graduates, Growing a Business”

Moderator:  Marco Costales  Attorney,  law offices of Nossaman LLP.

Los Angeles County Business Technology Center graduates discuss success, growth and survival (or not). Here four of the BTC’s most illustrious graduates discuss their tips for high growth in both good and difficult economic times. Find out the real secrets to success from the entrepreneurs that created value in turbulent times.
